Choosing The Perfect Location

Choosing the Perfect Location for your Senior Session

We are blessed to live in an area that is chock full of scenic and natural beauty, historical architecture, and a dash of urban sizzle.

When planning your shoot, it can be difficult to decide which of these backgrounds will work best for you.

Here are a few tips on finding the right location for your Senior Session.

Your session should be a memorable and enjoyable experience, to be cherished for a very long time.  Taking the time and effort before your shoot, will yield all this and more.

First and foremost, I believe that a great portrait is all about "YOU!".  A great location is one that enables you to feel comfortable, and reflects your personality and style. There needs to be a balance between the subject and the background.

Fortunately, we have a wide array of natural backgrounds to choose from.  Water, beach, woods, gardens, parks, urban scene, and so many other options.

Pick a theme for your shoot.

  • Natural and rustic
  • Casual by the water
  • Beach
  • Modern downtown-urban

When you are scouting a location, look for shaded areas under an overhang or under trees.  Keep in mind that the location you choose should have some variety or features to be photographed in, on or under.  Lastly, make sure the location is practical and you have easy access and permission to use it for your session.

If this all seems a little too daunting of a task, I can be of help.  I have spent a lot of time scouting unique locations that would be perfect for your shoot.  Give me a call or email to discuss your unique Senior Portrait Session.
